Job Description

Primrose Bio, a biotechnology company enabling the development of innovative therapeutics, vaccines, and manufacturing tools, is seeking to fill a Controller position. The Controller will be a key member of the finance team, responsible for overseeing all accounting operations and financial reporting functions. This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of accounting principles.

The Controller will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective internal controls. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial health and strategic direction of a leading biotechnology company.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations:

  • Supervise and manage the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and control.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit process with external auditors.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the development of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
  • Work closely with department heads to ensure budget adherence.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial and tax regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns and other regulatory reports.

Strategic Financial Planning:

  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and executive team on financial planning and strategy.
  • Participate in financial modeling and scenario analysis for potential investments and business initiatives.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of accounting experience. Big 4 public accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
