Job Description

Primrose Bio, a biotechnology company enabling the development of innovative therapeutics, vaccines, and manufacturing tools, is seeking to fill an Automation Research Associate position.

The individual selected will operate and manage standard liquid handlers as well as customized robotics systems (i.e., robotic arms, automation centrifuges) in our automation lab to support cutting-edge genetic and molecular evolution projects and have opportunities to contribute broadly to the company’s R&D programs, technology, and business. The individual should be highly motivated and passionate about developing new genetic technologies and embarking on discovery, development, and manufacturing of new biomolecules. This position is a full-time, salaried position. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with staff scientists to adapt new workflows and technologies to automation platform.
  • Troubleshoot and fix software and operational issues as they arise.
  • Work within project timelines and in a team structure that interfaces with different research and development departments.
  • Proactively take initiative to identify, research and solve complex technical problems and issues; communicate status in a timely manner; effectively multi-task to meet deadlines and commitments.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in engineering, computer science, biochemistry, biology, biochemical engineering or other related field and 2-5 years in laboratory research, preferably in industrial biotechnology R&D.
  • Experience with operating a wide variety of lab automation equipment including liquid handlers, robotic platforms, scheduling software, plate readers, and plate washers is preferred.
  • Experience with standard molecular biology and analytical techniques such as nucleic acid isolation, purification, cell culture, PCR, ELISA, in vitro transcription, fragment analysis, and high-throughput workflows.
  • Experience with programming (Python, Java Script, or VBA Excel) is highly desirable.
  • Candidates should have excellent communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
